Itinerary
Once we have put on our life jackets and adjusted the footrests on our kayaks we will be ready to set off to the east towards Maiori.
For those who have never been in a kayak there will be a short introductory lesson on how to kayak and safety at sea.
The route will take us along Amalfi’s finest beaches as well as close by sulfurous springs and into sea caves, giving us the opportunity to admire the old watch towers that dot the entire length of this coast.
We will pause at beaches reachable only by sea and have time to go snorkeling or swimming in crystal-clear waters.
Not too far from the starting point, right before passing the center of Amalfi, we will kayak in front of the Saint Andrew Grotto, a huge natural sea cave full of stalactites named after the patron saint of Amalfi (Andrea).
Then we will go for the villages of Atrani and Marmorata, where we will see an enchanting waterfall tumbling from the cliffs straight into the sea, together with some coves containing sulfurous springs.
Paddling farther along the coast we will be able to admire beautiful villas clinging to the cliff sides and the luxurious lemon gardens of Ravello, Minori and Maiori.
Finally we will reach Maiori, where we will see by the superb Bay of Cavallo Morto (Dead Horse Bay) and visit the Pandora Grotto, another enormous natural sea cave whose stalactites are a reminder of the antiquity of this immense cove in the rock.
The return trip to Amalfi will give us a different but equally remarkable view of both sea and land.
